Two More Cases of COVID-19 in Boone County

KWBG 04/19/20

On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health identified 389 new cases of coronavirus, the largest one-day amount of COVID-19 cases reported in our state.  Two-thirds of the additional positive cases of coronavirus can be attributed to surveillance testing in meat processing plants.  Over 500 Tyson employees have been tested and 84 of those individuals were positive for COVID-19.  Also, more than 500 National Beef employees submitted to testing and there were 177 positive results.  Iowa has now had 2,902 cases of coronavirus, which have caused 75 deaths.  The Department of Public Health says one more Iowan, a 61 to 80-year-old resident of Muscatine County, has passed away.  In central Iowa, from Saturday to Sunday, 40 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in Polk County for a total of 333, 2 in Boone County for a total of 6, and 1 in Story for 18 overall.  The Dallas County total remains at 45, there have been 3 cases in Webster, 2 in Hamilton, and just 1 in Greene County.
