Boone Football Hires Chad Klein as new Head Coach

We are excited to welcome Chad Klein, as our new Head Football Coach at Boone High School. Mr. Klein has also accepted a social studies teaching position at the high school for this upcoming school year. Chad is a native of Audubon, IA, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in History & Secondary Education from the University of Northern Iowa in 1998.  He also received a Teaching Endorsement in All Social Sciences from DMACC in 2011. Mr. Klein has spent his entire professional career teaching and coaching in the Kuemper Catholic School District in Carroll, IA.  He currently serves as the district’s Activities Director and Head Football Coach.

For the past 21 years, Coach Klein has dedicated himself to the development of students in the classroom and on the athletic field in various roles.  He has taught and coached students in grades 7-12; starting at Kuemper Catholic Middle School in 1999, and then moving to the high school in 2009 where he has taught about every social studies course offered. Chad has served as Kuemper’s Head Girls Track Coach for 7 years, and has coached football in almost every capacity.  In 2012, Chad became the Head Football Coach; leading the Knights to 8 consecutive playoff appearances, a State Semifinal appearance in 2012, and a 2A State Championship in 2013.  Coach Klein has been honored as the District 8 Coach of the Year twice, the 2013 2A Regional Coach of the Year, and was an Iowa Shrine Bowl Assistant Coach in 2015.

Coach Klein comes to us from a successful program built on commitment and tradition. His passion for the game of football, and his knack for building quality relationships with students and families will be a welcome addition to Boone High School. Our hiring committee including players, teachers, administrators, and community members all came to a consensus that Coach Klein would be a great fit to lead our football program into the future.  His work ethic, steady/approachable demeanor, leadership experience, and genuine regard for student-athletes and their success will help create consistency and stability within our program.  Chad has great social awareness and a big-picture, systems philosophy that will lend well to supporting a coaching staff. He will connect with our Little Toreador Youth Program, and work to build a systemic football program.  He will build a solid, sustainable program that the Boone Community can support and be proud of!

Chad is married to his wife Kim, who is an English teacher at Carroll High School.  They have four children: Olivia (19), will be a sophomore at Simpson and runs cross-country/track.

Logan (18), will be a freshman at Iowa State University studying Industrial Design

Easton (15), will be a sophomore in high school and is active in band and athletics

Piper (11), will be a 6th grader and participates in dance and gymnastics

We’d like to welcome the Klein’s into the Toreador Family and Boone Community.  Roll ‘Dors!
