STRATFORD, Iowa—Funeral arrangements are set for Hattie Sue Ball, age 81, of Boone, Iowa. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18, 2021, of cancer, at the Stratford Specialty Care Center in Stratford, Iowa, where she had been for the last six weeks.

Per Sue’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held later this summer.

Sue was born February 14, 1940, in Maud, Oklahoma, the daughter of John E. and Mary J. (Marlow) McClendon. Her parents and siblings followed the migrant work, picking cotton, vegetables and fruits. Sue worked later in life, with the disabled and elderly, enjoying this work very much. She married Wayne Ball and they later divorced. Sue and Wayne remained friends and traveled together later in life.

Sue loved her family, friends, music, angels, crafts and animals; not necessarily in that order! Her latest yorkie, Bosco, was given to her by her daughter, Mary. Bosco was always by her side and is now being cared for by Sandy and Don Ely, with the deepest gratitude from Hattie’s family.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Mary (K.T.) Turner; sister, Darlene Weaver; brothers, Don McClendon and C.T. McClendon; grandchildren, Joshua Uranga, and Jennifer Uranga; great-granddaughters, Iza and Tabatha; previous husband, Wayne Ball; his children, grandchildren and great and great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; special cousin, Hollace Marlow; life-long friends, Sandy Ely, Val Davidson, Sandy Wilkins, are only a few.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Ralph, Eddy Joe, Ruth, Ruby, and Virda Von; and great-grandson, Joshua.
