BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements have been planned for Marikay Fisher, age 76, of Boone, Iowa. She died on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
Marikay was born in Fort Dodge on February 25, 1945, the daughter of Peter and Kathryn (Goodrich) Rusnak. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1963. She began working in Des Moines as a secretary and later worked at Heinrich Envelope in Boone until they closed.
Marikay was united in marriage with Dennis Fisher on July 30, 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. From this union were three children, David, Kristi and Cindy.
Marikay was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boone. She loved her grandkids and that was the biggest piece of her heart. She cared for her flowers, enjoyed bird watching and cooking. Marikay hosted family dinners and enjoyed preparing the big meal for everyone. She had many other hobbies over the years such as making ceramics.
Marikay was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Rusnak; and sister, Marilyn Rusnak.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dennis of Boone; children, David (Sonya) Fisher of Waterford, MI, Kristi Grimes and Cindy (Dennis) DeVoogd, both of Boone; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Jack (Donna) Rusnak of Boone and Jerry (Teresa) Rusnak of Fort Smith, AR; and her beloved niece, Carrie Self.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or another Alzheimer’s organization of your choice.
