BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements are being planned for Susan Christina (Lauritsen) Baker, age 72 of Boone, Iowa. She died on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Sue was born on May 15, 1949 in Eldora, IA, the daughter of Viggo F. and Florence Mae (Trant) Lauritsen. She graduated from Riverside High School in Sioux City.

Sue lived in California where she raised her son, Eric, and worked hard to provide for him. In the 1990s, Sue and Eric moved back to Iowa.

Sue was united in marriage with Gary Baker on September 16, 1997 in Boone. She strategically planned that date around birthdays so everyone could remember their anniversary.

Sue was passionate about keeping her plants alive and well, adored her cats and dogs she had rescued over the years and enjoyed visiting with friends. Sue also enjoyed time on her computer.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Arvid C. Lauritsen; and sister, Alice Mae Lauritsen.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Baker of Boone; son, Eric C. (Kayt) Warner of Oregon; granddaughter, Lucille Warner; brother, Lance Lauritsen of Boone; sister, Ruth Shreve of Ames; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date.
