BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Hospital (BCH) is happy to announce the hiring of Mikaela Kienitz, RN, MSN, FACHE, as the new CEO of the Hospital. Mikaela will begin her new duties on January 2, 2023.
Mikaela will be replacing long-time CEO Joe Smith. Joe has been with BCH for 30-years. Joe’s retirement will be bittersweet. He has been a staple in the growth of BCH; however, he has many personal adventures to look forward to in his future.
Mikaela is coming from Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo, Iowa. She has been employed there since 2001 and was most recently the Chief Operating Officer where she directed administrative and personnel functions within the entire organization. Throughout the years at Compass, she has held many distinct roles: Interim Chief Executive Officer, Director of Patient Care Services, Associate Director of Patient Care Services and Staff Nurse.
Mikaela grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She has an 18-year-old son that is a Senior in High School, and a 20-year-old son that is a student at the University of Iowa. “I am excited & grateful for the opportunity to serve as the next CEO of Boone County Hospital,” Mikaela says. “It is an honor to join the team and to lead the organization into a very successful future by building upon the strong foundation that exists today. I look forward to moving to Boone and engaging with the communities and patients that we serve.”
Kienitz was unanimously selected from the three finalist by the Boone County Hospital Board of Trustees in October.
