BOONE, Iowa—Two men were taken to hospitals in Boone and Ames as a result of a collision on 220th Street (that’s U.S. Highway 30) and “L” Avenue at 7:25 Tuesday morning. According to the report from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, a service vehicle, operated by 57 year old Alan Miller of Boone, was traveling south on “L” Avenue. Miller crossed the westbound lanes of 220th Street, and attempted to cross the eastbound lanes when an eastbound vehicle, operated by 66 year old Gary Lass of Ogden, collided with the service vehicle. The resulting impact led to a collision with a northbound vehicle, stopped at the stop sign and operated by 21 year old Blake Haub. Miller and Lass were taken to the Boone County Hospital and Mary Greeley Medical Center respectively. Haub was apparently uninjured. The investigation is expected to lead to a “Failure to Yield” citation.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Ogden Police Department, Ogden Fire Department, Boone Police Department, the Boone County Hospital Ambulance Service and the Iowa DOT.
