BOONE, Iowa—He formally announced almost two months ago that he intends to run for Mayor in the municipal election in November. Now that the Special Election is over, attention turns to the November city school election. There will potentially be a number of positions to fill. Stines is in the midst of his 2nd four-year term on the council.
Stines released a statement with his announcement in early February:
Councilman Elijah Stines announced his candidacy for Mayor of Boone in the upcoming November 2023 election.
With over 5 years of experience on the city council, Councilman Elijah Stines has demonstrated a deep commitment to improving the lives of Boone residents and a proven track record of delivering results. As a husband and father of three young children, Elijah understands the challenges facing families in Boone and is committed to making the city a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
In addition to his service on the city council, Elijah is an active member of the community, holding the presidency of the local Lions Club. Elijah holds a PhD in mathematics, and works as Associate Chair of the Department of Mathematics at Iowa State University, Elijah’s combination of technical expertise and community involvement make him the ideal candidate for Boone Mayor.
“I am running for Mayor because I am committed to working with the community to make Boone a better place for all its residents,” said Elijah. “I have a proven track record of leadership on the city council, and I am eager to bring my experience, energy, and dedication to the Mayor’s office.”
Elijah’s campaign will focus on housing, lowering property taxes, economic development, infrastructure, and quality of life investments that benefit all of Boone’s residents. With a record of accomplishments and a vision for the future, Elijah is poised to lead Boone into a new era of prosperity and growth.
