Boone Municipal Band Summer Concerts Begin Wednesday May 31st, Herman Park Pavilion

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Municipal Band will resume its summer concerts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Herman Park Pavilion in Boone.

The band is excited to partner with the Ericson Public Library this summer for its annual summer reading program.

Municipal band concerts continue at 7:30 p.m. each Wednesday in the month of June, and people attending can receive a sticker on their summer reading program bingo card at the pavilion and receive credit for participating in the summer reading program.

June schedule highlights include a kids’ concert on Wednesday, June 21. Children’s librarian Zach Stier will be present to read children a story, and the band will play a number of songs kids will enjoy.

The following Wednesday, June 28, will feature the Boone Big Band. The ensemble made up of saxophones, trumpets, trombones and rhythm will play a variety of swing songs.

The schedule varies slightly in July with the band playing a patriotic concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4, followed by the City of Boone fireworks.

The Boone band will host the annual Iowa Municipal Band Festival at the pavilion from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 8. Eight bands from across the state will play a concert at the top of the hour, and Boone will play the final concert of the festival at 6 p.m.

The season will conclude with the last concert at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12.
