DES MOINES, Iowa—-The weekly fuel report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has been released and there was a big jump in the price of regular unleaded gasoline rose 21 cents, averaging $3.58 across Iowa according to AAA.
Crude Oil Summary
- The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $4.84 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $80.54.
- Brent crude oil rose $4.83 and is currently priced at $84.43.
- One year ago, WTI crude sold for $97.26 and Brent crude was at $109.64.
Motor Fuels
- As of Thursday, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.58 across Iowa according to AAA.
- Prices rose 21 cents from last week’s price and $.42 lower than one year ago.
- The national average on Thursday was $3.71, up 13 cents from last week’s price.
- Retail diesel prices in Iowa rose 14 cents this week with a statewide average of $3.74.
- One year ago, diesel prices averaged $5.01 in Iowa.
- The current Iowa diesel price is 21 cents less than the national average of $3.95.
- Wholesale ethanol held steady and is currently priced at $2.16.
- The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $2.72 for U87-E10, $3.10 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $2.84 for ULSD#2, $3.35 for ULSD#1, and $2.65 per gallon for E-70 prices.
Heating Fuels
- Natural gas prices fell 20 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $2.56/MMbtu
- We will continue reporting retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa in September.
