Cellphone Issues

KWBG 02/22/24

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Communications Center has passed along this notice, there is a nationwide AT&T outage that is preventing wireless customers from making and receiving any phone calls. There may be difficulty in making 9-1-1 calls.

On the Boone County Sheriff’s Department Facebook post, it was noted that it may take an extensive amount of time to dial into 9-1-1. If you are experiencing difficulty, first attempt to locate a landline or mobile phone with an alternate provider.

This may also affect Verizon and T-Mobile carriers, but as of now it is only AT&T.

Providers are working on this outage and there is an unknown timeline of when this issue will be fixed.

The Associated Press reported a number of Americans are dealing with cellular outages on AT&T, Cricket Wireless, Verizon, T-Mobile and other service providers, according to data from Downdetector. AT&T had more than 73,000 outages this morning, in locations including Houston, Atlanta and Chicago. Cricket Wireless had more than 13,000, the outage tracking website said Thursday. Verizon had more than 4,000 outages and T-Mobile had more than 1,800 outages. Boost Mobile had about 700 outages.
