Boone City Wide Clean-Up Underway

KWBG 06/03/24

BOONE, Iowa—Boone Public Works began picking up items set out on the parking on the northside of the city today. The annual City Wide Clean-up is attended to assist property owners by hauling away items not normally placed at the curb for regular garbage pickup. Public Works Director Waylon Andrews last week on Tuned In on KWBG emphasized that regular garbage will not be removed and could lead to workers by passing a property.

Andrews also said the city will take appointments to collect appliances, tires, tv’s, monitors and computer towers. There is a fee associated with that because the city has to pay a fee at the landfill to dispose of those items. Those appointments need to be scheduled by June 10th by calling 515-432-4211 extension 1406. Payment needs to be made to the Central Business Office at Boone City Hall prior to items being picked up. Pickup will be June 13th and 14th.

Pickett Salvage, LLC of Paton will provide an appliance drop off collection service. This will be located at the Boone Public Works Shop at 1410 8th Street on Friday, June 14th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 15th from 8:00 a.m. until Noon. Items will need to be brought to the drop off location. Pickett Salvage will not accept tires, tv’s, or monitors. Pickett will also be available to take abandoned or junk vehicles but arrangements need to be made in advance by calling Pickett Salvage, LLC at 515-846-6444.
