BOONE, Iowa—It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Boone resident, David Corbin Smelcer on June 28, 2024 at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines.
Born on April 6, 1978, David was a beloved son, father, and friend. David’s parents, Cindy Baldus and David Laurence Smelcer, brought him into a world he would come to deeply appreciate, especially the great outdoors. An avid fisherman, David found peace and joy by the water, casting lines and enjoying nature’s tranquility. He also loved rock hunting, often bringing wonderful rocks to his mom, a tradition his sons now carry on by bringing rocks to their mom and grandma. In late spring you would often find David hunting morels. He also loved camping with his family.
David’s greatest pride and joy were his three beautiful children: Mason, Addison, and Jaxson, who will remember him for his unwavering love and dedication. He was loved by many and touched countless hearts throughout his life.
David also had a passion for riding his motorcycle and working on vehicles with his oldest son, Mason. These shared moments created lasting memories and strengthened their bond.
In life Dave believed in the importance of organ donation. His final act will be saving several lives with his organs.
David’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at Wilson’s in Boone(date to be determined). This event will also serve as a benefit for his children. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to support Mason, Addison, and Jaxson, reflecting David’s love and dedication to his family.
Rest in peace, David. Your spirit will forever be part of the world you cherished so dearly.
