Ogden boys are runners up at conference cross country meet

The Ogden boys (Class 1A, No. 2) placed 2nd while the Madrid girls (Class 1A, No. 1) placed 4th at the West Central Athletics Conference on Thursday, October 17 at Adair-Casey-Guthrie Center. 

The Ogden girls placed 9th with 242 points, and the Madrid boys placed 8th with 193 points. 

Des Moines Christian won the boys meet scoring 16 points. Van Meter won the girls meet scoring 56 points. 

Benbow leads Ogden boys 

The Bulldog boys were led by Jude Benbow who placed 5th in 17:09. 

Two others finished in the top 15. Caden Lerdal finished 14th in 17:56, and Myles Tromblay was 15th in 18:00. 

Brady Van Sickle placed in 21st in 18:12, and Thomas Bergstrom finished 22nd in 18:15. 

Brandhorst leads Madrid girls 

The Tiger girls were led by Katelyn Brandhorst who placed 6th in 20:07.30. 

Two additional runners finished in the top 10. Madelyn Grothus was 7th in 20:13.10, and Hannah Brandhorst finished 9th in 20:24.00. 

Adelyn White finished 36th in 22:54.10, and Mila Grothus placed 37th in 22:57.00. 

Trusler leads Ogden girls 

The top finisher for the Bulldog girls was Addison Trusler who placed 28th in 22:32 

In addition, Samantha Lass was 39th in 22:59, and McKenzie Spencer finished 48th in 23:51. 

Renze leads Madrid boys 

The first across the line for the Madrid boys was Blake Renze who finished19th in 18:09.70. 

Additionally, Cavin Pehl ended 42nd in 19:41.10, and Caleb Berberich was 46th 19:46.70. 

Teams competing at the conference meet include Des Moines Christian, Odgen, Earlham, Adair-Casey-Guthrie Center, Van Meter, Woodward-Granger, Interstate 35 (Truro). Madrid, Pleasantville and Panorama (girls). 

Next week, Ogden travels to Holstein and Madrid travels to Central Springs (Manly) for their Class 1A state qualifying meets on Thursday, Oct. 24.
