DES MOINES, Iowa—The National Weather Service Office in Des Moines is providing updated information on the threat for severe weather including a few tornadoes, strong winds, and hail. Locally heavy rains are also possible and could result in urban ponding, especially if leaves or other debris collect and block surface drainage. The threat of severe weather is expected this afternoon and evening, generally between noon and midnight. All but northwest Iowa, but the most favorable risk area, including the potential for tornadoes, is generally in southern Iowa.
