Avery Howie qualified for state in 2 individual events and 1 relay as the Boone girls swim team competed in the regional meet Saturday, Nov. 9, in Ames.
The 200 medley relay of Avery Howie, Brooke Lile, Claire Enabnit and Tessa Gute finished 6th in a time of 1:57.09, which was good enough to qualify for state.
Howie also finished 3rd in the 100 back in 1:00.66 and 8th in the 50 free in 25.29 and will swim in both these events at state.
Other top individuals at the regional meet for the Toreadors included Brook Lile, 6th in 200 IM in 2:27.54, Claire Enabnit, 8th in 200 free in 2:14.28 and 8th in 100 fly in 1:05.72, Tessa Gute, 8th in 100 free in 1:01.61, Avery Overland 9th in 100 breast in 1:15.94 and Dani Goudie, 15th in 500 free in 6:24.74.
The results for the other relays were Sara Gute, Enabnit, Lile and Howie 6th in 400 free relay and Katelyn Brandhorst, Sara Gute, Overland and Tessa Gute, 7th in 200 free relay.
The state meet will take place Friday, November 15, with the individual prelims and Saturday , November 16, with the individual finals and all relays at Marshalltown.
