Delores “Dee” Williams

BOONE, Iowa—Delores “Dee” Williams, 81, of Boone, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at her home.

Following her wishes, cremation has taken place. Services will be held at a later date.

Delores was born August 11, 1943, in Boone, the daughter of Melburn and Doris (Lindahl) Peterson. She graduated from Interstate 35 Community Schools in 1961.

In July of 1965, Dee was united in marriage to Boyce Williams, Jr. To this union two sons were born, Todd Allen Williams and Terry Aaron Williams. They made their home in Boone.

Dee started working at Bournes in Ames after she graduated from high school and remained there, until the company closed. She then delivered Meals on Wheels in Boone for a number of years.

Dee was a member of the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad and the Red Hat Society. She actively volunteered at numerous places around the Boone area and enjoyed taking continuing education classes through DMACC and Iowa State. Dee loved to travel and took several bus trips around the United States. Which included seeing plays in New York City and her most recent trip was to Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Boyce; and two sons, Todd and Terry.

Dee is survived by her brother, Dr. Charles (Kathleen) Peterson of Xenia, OH; nephew, Michael Peterson of Leonardtown, Maryland; niece, Michelle (Troy) Peterson-Raines of Leonardtown, Maryland; great-nephew, Connor Peterson; great-niece, Freyja Raines; and many cousins in the Boone area.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Dee’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
