BOONE, Iowa—The Iowa State Patrol has released a minimal crash report that identifies those involved in a Monday morning crash in southwest Boone County. The accident occurred shortly before noon at the intersection of “G” Avenue and 310th Street. According to the State Patrol report, 50 year old Reid Schaefer of Perry was traveling east on 310th Street nearing “G” Avenue. The patrol’s report says Schaefer failed to yield at the intersection and struck a north bound vehicle in the middle of the intersection. That vehicle was driven by 39 year old Javier Hernandez of Perry. Hernandez and his passenger, 62 year old Amelia Huaracha De Hernandez of Perry were pronounced deceased at the scene. Schaefer was flown to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines by Methodist Air and his passenger, 49 year old Christine Schaefer of Perry was flown by Mercy One Air to Mercy One Downtown. Both were being treated for serious injuries. The State Patrol was assisted by multiple agencies.
