The Boone boys’ wrestling team traveled to Ames for the Jack Mendenhall Invitational on Saturday, January 11.
Indianola won the meet with 207 points. Boone placed 13th with 42.5 points.
Joseph Pestotnik placed 2nd at 175 pounds.
He pinned Jacob Schlee of Ankeny in 4:28 and Mason Tilley of Iowa City in 2:47.
In the 1st place match, Pestotnik was pinned by Lincoln Jipp of Bettendorf in 1:58.
Ajay Braddock placed 6th at 126 pounds.
He won by major decision over Easton Beehler of Spencer, 13-4, before losing by major decision over Truman Folkers of Ankeny, 13-3.
Braddock won by medical forfeit in the consolation round before losing by medical forfeit in the 5th place match.
Trent Eckard placed 7th at 157 pounds.
He won by technical fall over Jackson Mandolfo of Ankeny Centennial, 21-6, before losing by major decision to Levi Johnson of Spencer, 13-4.
In the consolation rounds, Eckard pinned Brock Rowe of Perry om 1:22. Lost by decision to Andrew Routh of Ankeny, 15-14, and won the 7th place match by decision over Connor Hill of Bettendorf, 7-3.
Mason Oostenink placed 7th at 120 pounds.
He lost by technical fall in the quarterfinal to Kendall Kurtz of Iowa City, 21-6, before receiving a bye.
In the consolation rounds, Oostenink lost by decision to Luke Hornyak, 16-10, before winning the 7th place match by pinning Cayson Westendorf of Waverly-Shell Rock in :45.
Boone hosts Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, Norwalk and Woodward-Granger at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, January 16 in Boone.
