The Class 1A, No. 2, Madrid boys’ basketball team was firing on all cylinders in a 74-44, victory over Earlham Friday, January 31, at Madrid in West Central Conference play.
The Tigers shot 65.9% from the field, 66.7% on 3-pointers and were 100% on free throws.
Toryn Severson led the Tigers with 23 points on 10 field goals, 3 of which were 3-pointers,
Fabian Ortiz-Alaniz added 18 points on 6 field goals, 3 3-pointers and 3 free throws while Brody Buck had 15 points on 5 field goals, 3 3-pointers and 2 field goals.
Buck had 4 assists while Ortiz-Alaniz and Severson had 3 assists each.
Toryn Severson and Jevyn Severson each had 8 rebounds with Emerson Bridgewater adding 4 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal.
Madrid remains at the top of the conference standings at 17-0 overall and 12-0 in the conference.
Earlham fell to 11-6 overall and 5-5 in the conference.
Madrid will travel to Ogden (6-11 overall, 4-8 conference) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
