Two Bulldogs place at Charger Invite

The Ogden boys’ wrestling team had two individuals place at the Charger Invitational Saturday, February 1, at Adair. 

Riley Saunders placed 5th and Ryder Eklund placed 6th

Saunders had a 1st-round bye before pinning Reuben Harshbarger of Woodward-Granger in :55 and lost by technical fall to Keaton Wittrock of Manson/Northwest Webster, 18-1. 

In the consolation rounds, he pinned Sam Hansen of Panorama in 1:24, pinned Trace Mann of Southeast Warren/Melcher-Dallas in 1:19 before getting pinned by Jaxen Vestal of Southeast Polk in :25. 

In the 5th-place match, Saunders pinned Wittrock in 2:32. 

Eklund received a 1st-round bye before pinning Hunter Waldo-Martinez of Eagle Grove in 1:47 and was pinned by Dallas Canoyer of Earlham in 2:24. 

In the consolation rounds, he pinned Cale Sorenson of Pleasantville in 3:13, won by medical forfeit over Keyin Steeve of Nodaway Valley before getting pinned by Christopher Lawson of Southeast Polk in 1:46. 

In the 5th-place match at 126 pounds, Eklund was pinned by Gavin Sloss of Adair Casey-Guthrie Center in 2:38. 

Other Bulldogs competing at the Charger Invitational included Copper Long at 113 pounds, Brody Hitsman at 120 pounds, Kinnick Munson at 132 pounds, Isaac Dominick at 138 pounds, Dillon Moe at 150 pounds, Landon Alexander at 157 pounds, Tristan Mosley at 165 pounds, Sylus Rude at 175 pounds, and Cash Williams at 215 pounds. 

The Bulldogs will travel to Le Grand for a meet with South Tama, East Marshall and Iowa Falls-Alden Thursday, February 6.
