Barb was born October 31, 1936, in Eldora Iowa where she was raised with her sister Ruth. She graduated from Eldora High School in 1955. She and her sister and their friends were avid movie-goers growing up. Barb graduated from Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines and used those talents to socialize with friends. She kept the neighborhood children all well-groomed through her children’s elementary days. Barb went to visit her sister Ruth who was having her first baby in California, where she met her future husband, Joseph. She, Joe and their beloved dog Arnold, spent many years traveling across the country in their decked-out, converted Greyhound “The Bus” between Ogden & San Jacinto, California – where they met countless, cherished friends. They also enjoyed their square dancing community. Barb made it a priority to attend every grandchild’s graduation, and attend their sporting events and dance recitals. She never missed an opportunity to take her grandchildren out for ice cream. Barb enjoyed playing cards, casinos, swimming regularly and bingo with her sister Ruth and many trips to Disneyland with her sister-in-law Marie. She was a very devout Catholic, always attending mass and instilling faith into her family.

Barbara is survived by her five children, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren celebrating her life. Son, Joseph Gregory Stanley father of Stephanie Stanley, Eli Stanley (Brendan & Cale). Daughter, Valerie & husband Jeff Gorman, parents of Sean Lestina, Nathan & wife Chelsie Lestina (Owen), Jamie & husband JR Jenkins (Conner Wirtz & Kaci Wirtz), Cody & wife Karley Gorman, and Mindy Gorman. Daughter, Laurie Soroka, mother of Alicia Soroka (Violette), Samantha & husband Micah Persell (Veda & Ruthie), & Richie Soroka III. Daughter, Mary Sturtz, mother of Amanda Sturtz, Alexa & husband Jake Bellile (Holden & Monroe). Son, Mark Stanley, father of Mara & husband Devin Miller (Easton, Mae, Leon), Mallory & husband Hunter Stroble, & Marcus Stanley. Brother-in-law, Jerry Lamons Sr., nephew, Jerry Lamons Jr., niece Karen & husband Bobby Garrett, great nephew, Martin & wife Heather Flores (Trinity, Marilynn, Serenity, Mia, Victor, Benjamin, & Emma).

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joseph Stanley. Her Parents Rufus Choate & Hazel Hogendorn. Her parents-in-law, Albert & Germaine Stanley. Her sister & brother-in-law, Ruth & Mike Nobel (Ramona & Michael). Sister-in-law, Marie Lamons.
