BOONE, Iowa—Last fall, an inspection of the floating dock near the bait house at Don Williams discovered that a number of the floating sections were no longer safe. At the time, Boone County Safety Officer Tim McGlynn submitted an application to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to replace the unsafe sections. The DNR did approve a grant of just under $90,000 to replace the dock. Late last month, County Conservation staff completed the installation for the new season. Chelsie Wilson, Executive Director for Boone County Conservation says the portions of the old dock that were able to be salvaged will be installed by the boat ramp on the south end of the lake. There’s also a plan to install a kayak launch system.
