It was a tough night on the road for Boone as both the baseball and softball teams dropped Raccoon River Conference games to North Polk on Wednesday, June 25, in Alleman.
Baseball: North Polk 5, Boone 1
The Boone baseball team couldn’t overcome North Polk, falling 5-1.
The Comets, now 13-9 overall and 9-2 in conference play, held Boone to just one run.
Tate Carlson led the Toreadors at the plate with two hits, while Cole Bowers drove in Boone’s lone run.
Noah Davies scored the only run for Boone, which now sits at 11-7 overall and 4-5 in the Raccoon River Conference.
Landon Youngblood took the loss on the mound, recording three strikeouts.
Drew Hayworth added one strikeout in relief.
Boone will look to bounce back tonight as they host Ballard (18-5 overall, 8-3 conference) at Memorial Park, weather permitting.
Softball: No. 7 North Polk 10, Boone 0
The Boone softball team ran into No. 7-ranked North Polk, falling 10-0 in a game that saw the Comets throw a no-hitter.
Boone’s offense was stifled from start to finish, and Carly Busch took the loss in the circle.
With the defeat, Boone drops to 12-9 overall and 3-6 in conference play, while North Polk improves to 23-4 overall and 10-1 in the Raccoon River Conference.
The Toreadors will return home tonight to face Ballard (6-16 overall, 2-7 conference) at Gary Creasman Field, weather permitting.
