Donald Kline

KWBG 09/15/25

BOONE, Iowa—Donald Eugene Kline, 91, of Boone, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025, in Boone.

Don was born to Frank and Grace (York) Kline, the ninth of 12 children on June 28th, 1934. He was raised in Boxholm, where his family lived until his parents bought a farm in Ridgeport. Don graduated from Stratford High School in 1952, marrying Mary Lou Miller in 1956. The couple settled near Ridgeport, eventually buying the family farm.

Don became a successful grain and livestock farmer, despite physical setbacks from polio in childhood and a house explosion in his early twenties. Don was fair and would not hesitate to let you know if your work was not up to his standards. He was a member of the Cattleman’s Association, the First Baptist Church of Boone, and served as a 4-H leader. Don enjoyed coffee with friends and took pride in his family’s accomplishments.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou; daughter, Joy Lynn; his parents, and his siblings Arlene, Fern, Betty, Mary Lou, Ruth, Maxine, Jean, Jack, Jim, Harold and Delores.

Don is survived by his children, Ken Kline, Kris (Milissa) Kline, Andy Kline, and Lori (Cole) Vinchattle; grandchildren, Clancy Vinchattle (Daniel Williams), Harlie (Dustin) Bauer, Brady (Natalie) Kline, Allyssa Kline (Hudson Vermillion); great-grandson, Hayden Kline, and great-granddaughters, Remington Bauer and Elliott Kline; sister-in-law, Elaine Kline, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Eastern Star Masonic Home for Don’s care.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. The funeral will follow on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jim Mead officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Don’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
