On Saturday, October 18, the Boone volleyball team went 2-2 at the Woodward-Granger Tournament, beating Perry and Colfax-Mingo, and placing third.
Game 1: Boone 2, Perry 0
Boone came out strong in its opening match, sweeping Perry in two sets.
Jenna Johnson orchestrated the offense with 16 assists, while Madilyn Barrett and Tria Hoyle each powered through with 5 kills.
On defense, Johnson and Taylor Arringdale held the back row with 7 digs apiece.
Serving was sharp, with Karsyn Smith and Johnson each landing 2 aces, and Arringdale and Baylee Bunning serving a perfect 100%.
Game 2: Boone 2, Colfax-Mingo 0
Boone kept the momentum rolling in their second match, again winning in straight sets.
Johnson added 13 more assists, setting up Hoyle for 6 kills.
Arringdale led the defense with 8 digs, while she and Delaney Good each fired off 3 ace serves.
Good was flawless from the service line, going 100%.
Game 3: Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center 2, Boone 0
Boone faced a tougher challenge in their third match, falling in two sets.
Johnson contributed 10 assists, and Madelyn Davidson led the attack with 5 kills and added 2 blocks.
Good anchored the defense with 5 digs, while Arringdale and Claire Hardinger each served an ace and maintained 100% serving accuracy.
Game 4: Woodward-Granger 2, Boone 0
In their final match of the day, Boone battled host Woodward-Granger but came up short.
Johnson dished out 15 assists, and Hoyle added 5 kills.
Bunning was a defensive standout with 9 digs, while Hardinger, Johnson, and Bunning each notched an ace.
Johnson and Bunning were again perfect from the service line.
Boone finishes the regular season with a 10-16 overall record.
The team now turns its focus to postseason play, traveling to face Nevada (25-14) in the Class 4A Region 5 first round tonight at 7 p.m.
