The Ogden girls’ wrestling team competed Saturday, November 22, at the Central Iowa Kickoff Tournament in Nevada, competing against athletes from 34 schools.

The Bulldogs placed six wrestlers in the top 10.

Rylin Casey led the way for Ogden with a third-place finish at 100 pounds.

After a first-round bye, Casey earned a 6-2 decision over Lola Voth (Chariton) and followed with a quick fall in 42 seconds against Jewleann O’Connell (Columbus Catholic).

Despite a semifinal loss to Livia Smith (South Tama), Casey bounced back in the third-place match, pinning Alexis Esquivel (Carroll) in 3:26.

Grace Hammer also finished fourth at 190 pounds.

Hammer advanced to the semifinals with a dominant fall over Emma Walker (Panorama) in just 54 seconds before dropping her final two matches, including an 11-5 decision in the third-place bout.

Jozlyn Wells joined Hammer on the podium with a fourth-place finish at 135 pounds.

Wells recorded pins in the second round and quarterfinals before falling in the semis and the third-place match.

At 115 pounds, Carlie Hinderaker battled her way to sixth place, picking up two wins by fall, including a lightning-fast pin in 44 seconds during the consolation rounds.

Other notable performances included Sophie Seligman at 125 pounds and Trinity Stoneburner at 110 pounds, who each finished ninth.

Seligman opened with a 25-second pin and added two more wins in the consolation bracket, while Stoneburner capped her day with a technical fall and a major decision to secure her spot in the top 10.

Tori Alexander at 130 pounds and Ruby Tasler at 235 pounds competed but did not place.

Ogden will return to action Monday, December 1, at 5 p.m. when the Bulldogs travel to Manson Northwest Webster.
