
The Boone girls’ basketball team fell short and dropped a 44-39 decision to Nevada Tuesday, November 25, in a non-conference game at the Nevada High School Fieldhouse.
Macy Chesnut led the way for Boone with 18 points, including three 3-pointers, and hit 5 of 6 free throws.
Her sister, Whitney Chesnut, added 7 points, knocking down two triples and a free throw, while also dishing out five assists.
Avery Howie contributed 6 points, including a 3-pointer, and grabbed 7 rebounds along with 2 steals.
Brooke Weisbrod pulled down 11 rebounds and 3 steals and also added 6 points.
Maleah Shivers chipped in with 5 rebounds, and Bryana Morgan added an assist.
The loss drops Boone to 0-2 on the season, while Nevada improves to 1-0.
Boone will return to action on Tuesday, December 2, hosting Fort Dodge (0-1) in a non-conference girls-boys doubleheader at the Boone High School gym.
The boys’ team will make its season debut that night.
The girls tip off at 6 with the boys following at about 7:30 p.m.
The games will be broadcast on KWBG, FM 101.5, AM 1590 and will stream at kwbglive.com with sports director Ryan Wendt on the call.
In addition, the Boone Dance Team will perform routines during both halftimes as they gear up for the state championships on Friday, December 5, at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines.
