BOONE, Iowa—Helen “Peg” Bielfelt, age 96, was born on October 8, 1929, in Fraser, to John and Lillian (Tilley) Anderson. She was the eighth child out of sixteen, and she attended Boone High School.
Helen was united in marriage to Robert Bielfelt on December 2, 1946, Troy, Kansas. The couple lived in Boone. Helen worked at Bourns in Ames for twenty years, then went to 3M in Ames for fourteen years until her retirement. After retiring, she became a foster grandmother for the Foster Grandparent Group. Helen was a member of the First Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, canning, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Harold, Thomas, Joseph, Leander “Jack”, Dwight “Bud”, Gary, and Duane “Butch”; sisters, Leona Erickson, Irene Huntley, Deloris “June” Stoneburner, Doris Banford, Honey Lou Hefler, Evelyn Gilliam, Lillian “Did” Lind, and Valetta “Val” Coats; daughters, Lynda Lewiston and Lynette Henry; granddaughters, Sara Eiteman and Beth Henry; and sons-in-law, Donald Lewiston and John Henry.
She is survived by her sons, Randall (Mina) Bielfelt of Boone; George (Rose) Bielfelt of Moingona; daughters, Jodi (Tim) Meredith of Madrid and Lanet (Mike) Johnson of Minnesota; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Boone First United Methodist Church, 703 Arden Street, Boone, with Rev. Adam Gordon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Rose Hill Cemetery, west of Boone.
