
The Madrid boys’ basketball team controlled its game from start to finish in a 54–38 West Central Conference victory over Woodward‑Granger Thursday, January 22, at Woodward.
Madrid jumped out to a 10–3 lead after the first quarter and stretched the margin to 21–14 at halftime.
Then the game was blown open when Madrid outscored Woodward-Granger 19-3 in the third quarter to take a 40–17 advantage into the final quarter.
Jevyn Severson poured in 33 points on 15‑of‑21 shooting, adding 11 rebounds, 4 blocks, and a steal.
He also went 3‑of‑4 at the free‑throw line.
Logan Bogardus and Kolbie Owens each added 7 points.
Bogardus shot 3‑of‑8 from the field and Owens hit a three.
Emerson Bridgewater grabbed 8 rebounds and had 4 assists without a turnover.
Max Fowler added 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal.
With the win, Madrid improves to 11–4 overall and 6–3 in the West Central Conference.
Woodward‑Granger falls to 8–5 overall and 2–4 in conference play.
Madrid returns to action on Tuesday, January 27, traveling to Panorama (1–13, 0–9) for another West Central Conference matchup.
