
The Ogden volleyball team put together a winning record during a busy stretch of seven matches, going 2-1 at its home quad Monday, October 5, after splitting four matches Saturday, October 3, at the Pink Out Tournament in Madrid.
The Bulldogs are now 22-11 overall and 4-3 in the West Central Activities Conference as they prepare for their final match of the regular season.
Match 1: Ogden 2, Des Moines Hoover 0
On Monday, Ogden opened its home quad with a 2-0 victory over Des Moines Hoover.
Ella Anderson had 12 assists, while Olivia Coleman, Kenzie Banks and Macy Bristle shared the team lead with four kills each.
Sidney Crane recorded three blocks, and Melana Sesker led the defense with six digs.
Bristle provided a big boost from the service line, finishing 15-for-15 with eight aces.
Grace Christensen also served at 100 percent.
Match 2: Ogden 2, Glidden-Ralston 0
Ogden followed with another sweep, defeating Glidden-Ralston 2-0.
Anderson had 10 assists and Sidney Crane led the attack with five kills.
Bristle recorded a block, while Sesker had a team-high nine digs and three aces.
Christensen, Anderson, Coleman and Natalie Crane all served at 100 percent as the Bulldogs finished the match with a 92 percent serving percentage.
Match 3: South Hamilton 2, Ogden 1
Ogden came up just short in its final match as South Hamilton defeated the Bulldogs 2-1.
Coleman led Ogden with eight kills, Banks had a block and Sesker totaled 12 digs.
Sesker also recorded four aces while going a perfect 11-for-11 serving.
Anderson had 11 assists.
Bristle and Natalie Crane were also perfect at the service line, with Ogden serving at 90 percent as a team.
The Bulldogs’ three matches Monday came just two days after playing four times at the Pink Out Tournament at Madrid High School on Saturday.
Match 1: Webster City 2, Ogden 1
Ogden opened Saturday with a close 2-1 loss to Webster City.
Anderson recorded 17 assists, while Coleman and Sidney Crane each had five kills.
Sesker finished with 11 digs and four aces.
Coleman, Paysen Graden and Bristle each served at 100 percent, helping Ogden to a 94 percent team serving mark.
Match 2: Ogden 2, Des Moines East 0
The Bulldogs bounced back against Des Moines East, earning a 2-0 victory.
Anderson recorded nine assists and seven digs, Coleman led the team with five kills and Sesker contributed three aces.
Anderson and Coleman were both perfect serving as Ogden finished at 91 percent as a team.
Match 3: Ogden 2, Panorama 0
Ogden then picked up its second straight victory by sweeping Panorama 2-0.
Anderson had 12 assists and also recorded two aces while serving 8-for-8.
Coleman led the offense with six kills, and Christensen paced the defense with nine digs.
Coleman and Christensen joined Anderson with 100 percent serving performances as the Bulldogs served 93 percent as a team.
Match 4: Ankeny Christian 2, Ogden 0
Ogden closed the Madrid tournament with a 2-0 loss to Ankeny Christian.
Coleman led the Bulldogs with three kills, while Anderson and Sidney Crane each recorded a block.
Sesker had eight digs.
Natalie Crane had two aces and went 7-for-7 from the service line.
Christensen, Anderson, Bristle and Sesker also served at 100 percent, helping the Bulldogs finish at 96 percent as a team.
Overall, Ogden finished the two events with a 4-3 record, including four straight-set victories.
The Bulldogs now turn their attention to the final night of the regular season.
Ogden hosts Martensdale-St. Mary’s tonight, Tuesday, October 6, at 6:30 p.m. for Senior Night.
It will be the Bulldogs’ final regular-season match, final home match and final West Central Activities Conference contest.
