
The Madrid Tigers girls’ basketball team came from behind Monday, January 20, to earn a 47–43 non‑conference road victory over Greene County in Jefferson.
Madrid trailed at every quarter break before storming ahead in the final minutes and outscored Greene County 30–20 in the second half.
After falling behind 12–5 early and entering halftime down 23–17, the Tigers chipped away at the lead behind Laura Eagleton.
Trailing 38–35 entering the fourth, the Tigers closed the game on a 12–5 run to secure their seventh win of the season.
Eagleton poured in 27 points on 9‑of‑16 shooting, including five made threes (5/9).
She added 10 rebounds, 4 offensive boards and 2 steals.
Lauren Dvorak collected 24 rebounds — nine of them offensive — while adding 15 points and a steal.
Mayzie Surratt pulled down 7 rebounds (4 offensive) and had a team‑high 3 steals.
Audrey Brown hit a three-pointer and dished out 5 assists with just 2 turnovers, while Surratt added 3 assists with zero turnovers.
Samantha Springer added 2 assists as well.
With the victory, Madrid improves to 7–6 overall.
Des Moines Christian 71, Madrid 31
Madrid hosted Des Moines Christian on Friday, January 16, as the Lions handed the Tigers a West Central Conference 71–31 loss at Madrid High School.
Eagleton led the Tigers with 16 points, shooting 7‑of‑12 from the field, while Springer added 7 points, including a three-pointer.
Dvorak chipped in 5 points, hitting one of her two attempts from beyond the arc.
Dvorak also had 7 rebounds, while Jaelyn Fuson contributed 2 rebounds and a block.
Brown added 2 rebounds and a steal.
Assists were spread among the lineup, with Fuson, Surratt, and Springer each recording one assist.
With the defeat, Madrid moved to 2–6 in conference play.
Madrid stands at 7–6 overall and 2–6 in the West Central Conference.
The Tigers next travel to Woodward‑Granger (7–5, 3–3) on Thursday, January 22, for a conference matchup.
