
The Boone boys’ wrestling team fell just short in a tiebreaker loss to North Polk before rebounding with a decisive victory over Winterset Thursday, January 22, at Boone.
North Polk 38, Boone 37 (Criteria)
The opening dual of the night came down to the smallest of margins, as North Polk edged Boone 38–37 on criteria after the teams finished tied in total points.
North Polk claimed the tiebreaker with a 22–18 edge in first points.
Easton Landas (106) secured a fall in just 11 seconds.
Then Mason Oostenink (120) earned a technical fall (17–2), and Ajay Braddock (132) delivered a pin in 1:05.
Tate Hollenkamp (144) pinned his opponent in just 54 seconds, and Brody Warrick (165) added a fall in 1:34.
Trent Eckard (175) delivered a 21–4 technical fall, and Hayden Nerem (215) closed his bout with an 8–2 decision.
Boone 49, Winterset 18
Boone responded in the second dual, rolling past Winterset 49–18.
Landas opened with an 18–3 technical fall at 106.
From there, the Toreadors rattled off a series of wins.
Braddock won a 4–1 decision, and Anthony Heenan (138) earned a 20–5 technical fall
Hollenkamp secured a fall in 5:11, and Owen Thomas (150) pinned his opponent in 1:46
Ethan Stecker (157) won a hard‑fought 12–9 decision, and Warrick edged out a 7–6 decision
Eckard pinned his opponent in 1:19, and Macon Robinson (190) had a fall in 1:29
Finally, Nerem had a fall in 1:42.
