
Madrid girls win 4 events at ADM Early Bird meet
The Madrid girls track and field team won four individual events at the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Early Bird Coed Meet Thursday, March 26, in Adel.
Field events
Lauren Dvorak swept both the shot put and discus, winning the shot with a throw of 38‑05.00 and capturing the discus title at 125‑08.
Mayzie Surratt added a 4th-place finish in the discus in 87-11 and a 5th‑place finish in the shot put in 28-06.00.
Distance events
Hannah Brandhorst ran away with the 3000-meter run, winning the race in 11:06.18, more than half a minute ahead of the second-place finisher.
In the 1500-meter run, Madelyn Grothus took first place with a time of 5:09.08.
Charis Peasley added a seventh‑place finish in the 3000 and a fourth‑place finish in the 800-meter run.
Relay events
Madrid took second place in the shuttle hurdle relay, clocking 1:13.79 (Iyla Fine, Charlotte Schealler, Ashlyn Burkhart, and Adelyn White).
In the 4×800-meter relay, the Tigers finished fourth in 12:17.61 (Makayla Mullenbach, Ella Hutchinson, Katelyn Hanson and Olivia Pudenz).
The Sprint Medley Relay team placed 5th in 2:08.22 (Schealler, Fine, Jaela Hansen and Kimee Smith).
In the 4×200-meter relay, Madrid placed 7th in 2:09.21 (White, Zoey Olsen, Avian Landers and Schealler).
Sprint and hurdle events
In the 100-meter dash, Paige Richards finished in 13.10 for second place.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Adelyn White placed 3rd in 1:22.59, followed by Ashlyn Burkhart in 4th at 1:26.68.
