BOONE, Iowa—Karen K. Lind, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died on March 21, 2026, in Ames, Iowa. She lived 83 wonderful years and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was born Karen Anderson on April 19, 1942, in Boone, Iowa. Karen graduated from Boone High School and went on to earn her Associate of Arts degree. She married Lyle (Jim) Lind on June 18, 1960. Jim and Karen enjoyed 65 years of love and friendship.
Karen was an active member of Augustana Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She also taught piano to many students in the Boone area. Karen enjoyed working as an administrative assistant at Iowa State University for over 15 years.
Karen is survived by her husband, Jim, her three children, Lisa (Todd) of Cedar Rapids, Jeff (Jill) of West Des Moines, and Steve of Ames, two grandchildren, Ryan (Megan) and Krista (David), one great-grandchild, Heath, and a sister, Dianne of Boone.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Geneva Anderson, and by her son, Christopher.
Karen’s funeral will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service starting at 2:00 p.m., followed by a dessert reception. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Karen’s name may be made to the Augustana Lutheran Church, Boone, IA.
Karen’s family thanks all the special people who have cared for Karen, with special thanks to the wonderful staff at Suncrest Hospice of Ames and Accura HealthCare of Ames.
