LaMar sets school record as Boone wins Ogden meet

Jennifer LaMar set a school record in the shot put as the Boone girls’ track and field team captured the team title at the Ogden Girls Invitational Thursday, April 16. 

Boone ended with 132 points finishing well ahead of runner‑up Madrid (104). 

Boone was led by a standout performance from Jennifer LaMar, who won the shot put with a mark of 40 feet, 11 inches. 

LaMar broke the 21-year old school record of 40 feet, 10 inches, set in 2005 by Becky Wittrock. 

Maleah Shivers also had a strong day, placing second in the shot put with a throw of 39‑09.50. 

This puts Shivers at number three all-time for Boone in the shot put. 

LaMar followed with a third‑place finish in the discus at 108‑08.  

Briella Johnson delivered an event win in the 400-meter dash, crossing the line in 1:02.78, and later anchored Boone’s winning 4×400-meter relay.  

The team of Bry Morgan, Kyra Darby, Mady Davidson and Johnson earned first place in the 4×400 with a time of 4:29.73. 

The 4×800-meter relay also ended first, finishing in 10:48.63 with Johnson, Finley Houser, Reagan Morgan and Quinn Houston. 

Additionally, the 4×200-meter relay of Tala Wittrock, Halle Bailey, Taylor Arringdale and Avah Hayes were champions i 1:56.26. 

The shuttle hurdle relay of Abi Leu, McKenzie Klatt, Maylin Griffis and Kyra Darby finished second in 1:13.71. 

Hayes added a runner‑up finish in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:13.93 and Davidson placed third in 1:14.20. 

Arringdale placed third in the long jump with a leap of 15‑04. 

Reagan Morgan added a third‑place finish in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:16.61. 

Darby placed third in the 100‑meter hurdles in 17.63. 

The distance medley relay of Arringdale, Bry Morgan, Houser and Houston placed third in 5:00.90. 

The 4×100-meter relay of Leu, Bailey, Arringdale and Hayes finished third in 54.18.

The girls travel to the Ram Relays Monday, April 20, at Greene County Middle School in Jefferson.
