Boone boys finish seventh at conference golf meet

The Boone boys’ golf team finished seventh overall with a team score of 350 Monday, May 11, at the Raccoon River Conference Meet at Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames.

The Boone boys’ golf team finished seventh overall with a team score of 350 Monday, May 11, at the Raccoon River Conference Meet at Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames.  

Ballard claimed the conference championship with a score of 294, followed by North Polk (315) and Adel‑DeSoto‑Minburn (318).  

Individually, Austin Maach led the Toreadors, carding an 86 to finish 25th overall.  

Close behind were Calvin Overton and Jaxon Miover, who each posted scores of 87. 

Brody McNace and Beau Bass both turned in rounds of 90, while Mason Oostenink rounded out Boone’s lineup with a 97. 

Ballard dominated individual play as well, with Parker Domino earning medalist honors after firing a 68, while teammate Jamin Colvin finished second at 73.

Boone now turns its attention to the Class 3A sectional meet, which will serve as the qualifier for the Atlantic District.  

The sectional will be held Wednesday, May 13, at Briggs Woods Golf Course in Webster City. 

Joining Boone in the sectional field will be Des Moines Christian, Gilbert, Humboldt, Nevada, Perry, South Tama County and Webster City.
