Madrid’s softball team scored an 8-4 win over Panorama in a West Central Conference matchup Tuesday, June 2, at Panorama High School.

Madrid pushed across two runs in the top of the first and added two more in the second to take a 4-0 advantage.

Panorama broke through in the bottom of the fourth with a run, then pulled closer in the fifth with two more runs, trimming Madrid’s lead to 4-3.

The Tigers added a key insurance run in the top of the sixth inning before scoring three runs in the seventh to stretch the lead to 8-3.

Panorama answered with a run in the bottom half of the seventh, but the rally fell short.

Offensively, Audrey Brown also had a big night at the plate, finishing with two hits, a home run, three RBI and a run scored.

Mayzie Surratt collected three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

Hadley Mickle contributed a hit and two RBI.

Surratt also pitched a complete game and struck out eight batters to earn the win.

With the victory, Madrid improved to 6-1 overall, while Panorama dropped to 1-3.

Madrid will face a tough test tonight, traveling to No. 5 Van Meter (6-2) for a doubleheader.
