
BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two vehicle accident in southern Boone County Monday afternoon. The accident did claim the life of a Woodward man. Chief Deputy Cory Rose released information Tuesday:
On June 8th, 2026, at 2:50PM the Boone County Communications Center took a report of a two vehicle, personal injury accident at the intersection of Magnolia Rd. and 300th St. in Boone County. Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies, Madrid Police, Iowa State Patrol, Woodward fire and Boone County Hospital all responded to the scene.
A 2019 Ford F-250 being driven by 16 -year-female old was traveling Northbound on Magnolia Rd. Her vehicle collided with a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado being driven by a Larry Frantum, age 90 of Woodward, that had pulled away from the stop sign on 300th St. heading Westbound.
Frantum died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. The 16-year-old driver was checked by medical personnel on scene and released.
The accident investigation is being completed by the Iowa State Patrol.
