Arland Van Schuyver

Arland Van Schuyver, 85, Labelle, Florida

BOONE, Iowa—Arland C. Van Schuyver, aka “Van” or “Screwdriver”, age 85, of Labelle, Florida, and formerly of Boone and Ogden, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026, in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Arland was born December 3, 1940 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, the son of Arland J. Van Schuyver and Mildred (Grady) Van Schuyver.

He entered the US Army in October 1959 and was honorably discharged in October 1962. In May 1963, Arland was united in marriage to Beverly Madden.

Arland and Beverly spent their summer months camping at Don Williams Lake, enjoying fishing and boating. He served as a police officer and was the police chief for awhile in Dallas Center, Iowa. Arland then was employed with AgServ in Ogden, and remained there until his retirement.

He also enjoyed hunting in his younger years, woodworking, and tinkering with about anything. Arland always could be found either watching old westerns or the Chicago Cubs. He biggest enjoyment of all, was spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly in November 2025; daughter, Penny Van Schuyver; two granddaughters, Mackenzie Van Schuyver and Kimberly Van Schuyver.

Arland is survived by his three children, Marty Van Schuyver, Lonnie (Doll) Van Schuyver and Lenneica (John) Stewart; six grandchildren, Bryce (Amanda) Van Schuyver, Megan (Jimmie) Van Schuyver, Yancy Van Schuyver, Eric Van Schuyver, Steven Stanford and Barbara Lovelady; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at the Mackey United Methodist Church, 288 V Avenue, Boone, with Pastor Mike Salati, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Inurnment, with Military Honors by the Iowa Army National Guard and Boone Veterans Council, will immediately follow in the Mackey Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Arland’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
