Ogden softball wins three straight

The Ogden softball team won three consecutive games Friday and Saturday, June 26 and 27.

The Ogden softball team won three consecutive games Friday and Saturday, June 26 and 27. 

Ogden 6, AHSTW 3 

Ogden scoring in each of the first four innings in Friday’s home non-conference victory over Avoca-Hancock-Shelby-Tenent-Walnut. 

The Bulldogs scored one run in the first, followed by two runs in both the second and third innings, and added another in the fourth to go up 6-0.  

AHSTW rallied with three runs in the sixth, but Ogden’s early offensive surge held. 

Aubrey Leonard collected three hits, scoring twice, and swiping four bases.  

Sophie Seligman added two hits and two runs scored, while Clara Kruse contributed two hits, including a double, along with an RBI and a run scored. 

Adi Banks had a double and scored a run. 

Dakota Jones tallied a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. 

Lauren Mathews and Grace Christensen each drove in a run. 

Katie Wilcoxson pitched a complete game and striking out eight to secure the win. 

Ogden 10, Colfax-Mingo 0 (5 innings) 

Ogden carried momentum into the Bobcat Classic,scoring nine runs in the first inning en route to a 10-0, five-inning shutout of Colfax-Mingo. 

The Bulldogs’ first inning put the game out of reach early, and they added another run in the fourth to cap the scoring. 

Banks finished with two hits, two doubles, four RBIs, and a stolen base.  

Mathews also had two hits and three RBIs. 

Grace Christensen had two hits and scored twice, and Leonard scored two runs. 

Harleigh Janssen and Sophie Seligman each recorded a hit and scored a run 

Kruse added a hit and an RBI, and Jones had a hit and scored. 

Sarah Seligman added a hit, and Sophia Moorman and Sidney Crane each scored a run. 

Wilcoxson tossed another complete game, striking out two in the shortened contest. 

Ogden 8, Grand View Christian 3 

Ogden completed the weekend sweep with an 8-3 win over Grand View Christian. 

After trading early runs, the Bulldogs scored once in the third inning before breaking the game open with four runs in the fourth.  

Ogden added three more in the sixth to build an 8-1 advantage. 

Christensen racked up four hits while driving in three runs and scoring once.  

Sophie Seligman added three hits, a run scored, and an RBI, while Leonard crossed the plate three times. 

Kruse had two hits and scored once, and Mathews added a hit and a run. 

Janssen recorded a hit, and Crane scored a run. 

Kruse tossed a complete game and recording a strikeout to earn the victory. 

With the three-win weekend, Ogden improves to 18-14 overall and 8-11 in West Central Activities Conference play.  

The Bulldogs will travel to Panora Monday, June 29, to face Panorama (9-15 overall, 5-12 conference) in a conference matchup.
