
Forsyth, Missouri—Gladys Ruth (Flynn) Sickau of Forsyth, Missouri, formerly of Fraser, lowa, passed away on
Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Countryside Assisted Living Memory Care in Huntsville, Arkansas
at the age of 83. She was born on October 6, 1942 to Irving Stanley Flynn and Esther White Flynn.
Gladys eloped to Las Vegas to marry the love of her life, Carl “Buck” Sickau on March 18, 1961 and
they shared nearly 65 inseparable years together.
She was a volunteer tour guide on the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad, a member of the American
Business Women’s Association-Boone County Charter Chapter, and retired as Departmental Secretary
of Civil and Construction Engineering at lowa State University
In her spare time Gladys enjoyed cooking, baking, country western dancing, attending car shows,
fishing, antiques, gardening, crafting, sewing and cross-stitching for which she won several local and
state ribbons & awards.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Daniel Flynn.
She is survived by her husband, Carl “Buck” Sickau of Forsyth, Missouri, one son, Carl “Scott” (Diane)
Sickau of Boone, lowa, one daughter, Kathy “Katie Lynn” (Chris) Reed of Forsyth, Missouri, one
brother, James Flynn of Golden, Colorado, two Granddaughters, Kara (Josh) Allen, Cassie (Jake)
Edwards and two Great-Grandchildren, Dale and Carli.
Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Ozark Mountain Funeral Service, Harrison,
Arkansas. Local arrangements are being coordinated with Chet Hollingshead.
Pastor Andrew Potratz of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City, lowa will lead a private graveside
service for family at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Bluff Creek Cemetery, 906 J Avenue,
Boone lowa which will be followed from 1:00-3:00 by a celebration of memories for family and friends
hosted at Tulips Event Center (lower level of Dutch Oven Bakery), 603 Story Street, Boone, lowa with
light refreshments being provided by Dutch Oven Bakery.
