The Boone girls’ tennis team rolled past Newton, 8-1, Monday, in a varsity dual on the road.

The Toreadors set the tone early by sweeping all six singles matches.

At No. 1 singles, Maiya Phanchantraurai won 6-0, 6-0.

Kaylee Kuehl followed with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles, while Livi Schneider cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 3 spot.

Claire Hardinger earned a shutout victory at No. 4 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 5 singles, Olivia Conlin added another point with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph, and freshman Harper Kuehl completed the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles.

“It was nice to make the clean sweep in singles and allow some rest for our top six,” head coach Shawn Latimer said.

Leading 6-0 after singles play, Boone carried its momentum into doubles competition.

The sister duo of Kaylee and Harper Kuehl teamed up at No. 1 doubles and earned a 6-2, 6-1 win.

At No. 3 doubles, Halle Bailey and Sarah Owen dominated their match 6-0, 6-3 to secure Boone’s eighth point of the afternoon.

Newton’s lone victory came at No. 2 doubles, where the Boone team of Rozzie Stevenson and Michaella Anderson battled through a tightly contested match before falling in a third-set tiebreak, 7-5, 4-6, 10-0.

“This gave an opportunity for some other doubles teams to move up and gain some valuable experience,” Latimer said.

Complete results were previously posted to kwbg.com.

Boone (3-1) will host North Polk (4-0) this afternoon at McHose Park.
