08/24/26
Officer received a call of a traffic back-up at the High School, on Highway 17. Officer sat on the side road and monitored the traffic which was flowing. Drivers: Please be patient in this area at school start and let out times due to a lot of turning traffic both in and out of the school.
A Madrid resident stopped into the police department to notify the department of a family situation he feels may become violent. Officer advised the male to stay away from the trailer when the other person is around.
Officer assisted a Madrid resident with her child not listening. Officer arrived and was able to accomplish the goal the parent asked for. Officer also spoke with the juvenile and advised him the proper way to act.
Officer was dispatched to the high school as a grandmother had called in stating her grandson was supposed to exit the bus at the high school but stayed on too long. Grandma was able to get ahold of the bus driver and arrange an area to pick up the student.

Officer was called to the Madrid Post Office, after a carrier was bit by a dog. Officer did a call for service and contacted the dog owner. The owner brought in all vet records and provided them to the victim.
Officer contacted a father of a juvenile that needed to be served with a juvenile citation, to arrange a time to meet, so that the case could be finished and closed.
Officer assisted a military background investigator, with a background check on a local resident going into the military.
Officer performed a civil stand-by at the Madrid Home while family collected possessions of a former resident.
Officer was dispatched to Meadow Estates to speak with a juvenile by parent’s request, about listening to her parents and not climbing out the trailer window before the parents are awake in the morning.
A Madrid resident found a large knife on the walking trail and turned it into the police department for safekeeping.
08/26/26
Officer received a complaint of a property in the 400 block of South Main Street, that blew all his grass out onto the roadway. Officer left a business card on the door and spoke to the owner a short time later, who stated that he would get the grass cleaned up.
Officer did background checks on two subjects who are wanting to join the Madrid Fire Department. Officer relayed the information to the Fire Chief.
Officer did a background check, for a downtown landlord, for a possible future renter. Officer relayed the information back to the landlord.
Officer did a background check for a local landlord on a possible future tenant. Officer relayed the information back to the landlord.
Officer was dispatched to an emergency medical call in the 200 block of Gerald Street. Officer stood-by and assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue and Boone County Ambulance. Patient was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Officer met with Elementary School staff and did a home check of a child that had not been to school yet.
Officer followed up on a junk vehicle that was tagged and posted for removal in the 500 block of East 6th Street. Officer posted the necessary final 10-day notice. After the 10 days, the Officer will have both vehicles removed off of the property at the owner’s expense. Officer spoke to the owner when he arrived home as the officer was leaving. He stated that he felt it was a victimless crime. Officer informed him that his neighbors were the victims due to his grass being 2ft tall all summer long and having to look at a crashed vehicle since last winter. Owner stated that he would be having the vehicle removed.

Officer had a lost/found cell phone turned into City Hall. The phone had a shattered screen and was not able to be opened. If you lost this phone, please claim at the Madrid Police Department.
Officer had paperwork turned into the police department, for a past dog bite case. Paperwork was turned over to the victim and the business, so that an in-house report could be completed.
Officer met with a juvenile and his mother, and cited the subject for a past crime in the city. The juvenile was cited for trespassing and criminal mischief. Officer received the fifth and final name and contact information on the last subject that needs to be cited in this case.
Officer was called to the Madrid storage units for a mother and son fighting. Officers calmed the situation down and working out a solution that satisfied everyone involved.
08/28/26
Officers provided additional patrol at the home football game.
Officer spoke with two subjects’ reference someone entering their home without permission. Officer discussed possible enforcement action that could be taken if they so choose. They advised they would consider their options.
Officers took custody of an Ivan Burkheimer II for a City of Boone arrest warrant. He was transported to the Boone County Jail without incident.
08/29/26
Officer stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 100 block of West 1st Street. Upon stopping, a juvenile passenger fled the scene on foot. The juvenile that fled was known to the officer and he returned when called. It was later determined that the vehicle was “borrowed” from a family member without their knowledge. The juvenile operator and four other juveniles were released to their respective parents and the vehicle released to the owner. The operator was issued multiple traffic citations; however, the victim of the stolen vehicle did not wish to pursue charges for the theft.
Officer responded to an information request from DHS on an incident that happened in Madrid.
08/30/26
Officer picked up a subject from the Jasper County Jail after Newton Police Department arrested him on a Madrid arrest warrant stemming from an assault involving a firearm. He was transported to the Boone County Jail for processing.
Officer performed several traffic stops within the city of Madrid.
Officer received a phone call at the police department regarding drinking in Woodward and walking the trail home to Madrid. Officer advised the caller to speak with Boone County Sheriff’s Office for an answer to his question.
Officer was dispatched to the Cellar Winery for a report of a woman yelling at staff, Officer was disregarded when it was determined it was only verbal nothing physical and Deputies were close by.
