The Boone girls’ tennis team defeated Ballard, 9-2, in a dual meet Thursday, September 10 in Huxley.

The Toreadors won five of the six singles matches before securing four victories in doubles play to earn the team win.

“This was our most complete win of the season over a solid Ballard team at their place, which is a difficult place to play,” said head coach Shawn Latimer.

Boone’s lineup was led by Maiya Phanchantraurai, who earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles.

Kaylee Kuehl followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.

At No. 3 singles, Livi Schneider posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory, while Claire Hardinger earned a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 4.

Harper Kuehl added another point for the Toreadors with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.

The Toreadors continued their strong play in doubles competition.

Phanchantraurai and Hardinger cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Kaylee Kuehl and Schneider won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Boone also received a win from the No. 3 doubles team of Olivia Conlin and Harper Kuehl, who defeated their Ballard opponents 6-3, 6-3.

The No. 4 doubles team of Rozzie Stevenson and Michaella Anderson rallied after dropping the first set to claim a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (7) victory.

“Winning the top four doubles is a step in the right direction for our doubles play as Ballard brings tall ant athletic girls which can be tough to play against,” Latimer said.

Complete results were previously posted to kwbg.com

Boone (9-1) closes out the regular season hosting Ankeny (1-7) Tuesday, September 15, at McHose Park.
