
The Boone football team’s undefeated start to the season came to an end Friday, September 11, at Goeppinger Field as Gilbert handed the Toreadors a 16-0 loss.
The Toreadors finished with 33 passing yards and 98 rushing yards but were unable to find the end zone.
Running back Maddox McIntyre led Boone on the ground with 83 yards on 16 carries.
Quarterback Ashten Petersen added 10 rushing yards on nine attempts, while Ryder Hilsabeck chipped in five yards on his lone carry.
Petersen completed 10 of 20 passes for 33 yards.
Hilsabeck led the receiving corps with three catches for 12 yards.
Romero Young Jr. and Patrick Houser each finished with two receptions for eight yards, while McIntyre caught three passes for five yards.
For the defense, RJ Lennon paced the Toreadors with 7.5 total tackles, including three tackles for loss, and also recovered a fumble.
George Grote added six tackles, while Anthony Heenan and Trent Eckard each recorded 4.5 tackles.
Eckard also registered a half tackle for loss.
Javier Casiano contributed 3.5 tackles and a half tackle for loss.
The loss dropped Boone to 2-1 on the season, while Gilbert improved to 2-1 during Youth and Middle School Football Night.
Boone will look to bounce back Friday, September 18, when it travels to Cadet Field to face Iowa Falls-Alden.
The Cadets also enter the matchup with a 2-1 record.
