The Ogden volleyball team earned a split Tuesday, September 22, in a West Central Activities Conference triangular at Ogden High School, sweeping West Central Valley before falling to Class 2A No. 11 Van Meter.
Match 1: Ogden 3, West Central Valley 0
The Bulldogs opened the triangular with a 3-0 victory over West Central Valley.
Ella Anderson directed the Ogden offense with 29 assists.
Olivia Coleman and Sidney Crane shared the team lead with eight kills apiece.
Defensively, Melana Sesker paced the Bulldogs with 12 digs, while Grace Christensen and Coleman each added 11.
At the net, Coleman, Hallie Bristle and Macy Bristle each recorded one block.
Ogden was especially effective from the service line, serving 97 percent as a team.
Macy Bristle led the way with four aces while going a perfect 20-for-20.
Anderson was 9-for-9 with two aces, Christensen went 13-for-13 with an ace, and Sesker was 6-for-6.
Match 2: No. 11 Van Meter 3, Ogden 0
In the second match of the night, No. 11 Van Meter swept Ogden, 3-0.
Anderson finished with 18 assists and also recorded a team-high two blocks.
Coleman and Kenzie Banks led the Ogden attack with five kills apiece.
Sesker led the Bulldog defense with 17 digs.
Ogden again had a strong night serving, finishing at 98 percent as a team against Van Meter.
Macy Bristle recorded three aces while going 10-for-10 from the service line.
Paysen Graden was 9-for-9 with one ace, while Anderson went 5-for-5, Coleman 7-for-7 and Sesker 7-for-7.
Following the split, Ogden is 15-8 overall and 2-3 in the West Central Activities Conference.
The Bulldogs will return to action Tuesday, September 29, when they travel to Earlham for a triangular against Earlham and Interstate 35.
