
The Ogden volleyball team had to work overtime Tuesday, September 29, but the Bulldogs came away with a pair of West Central Activities Conference victories at Earlham.
Ogden defeated Earlham 3-2 before coming back with another five-set victory, 3-2 over Interstate 35, at the conference triangular on Tuesday, September 29.
Match 1: Ogden 3, Earlham 2
In the opening match against Earlham, Ella Anderson directed the Ogden offense with 39 assists and also led the Bulldogs defensively with 14 digs.
Olivia Coleman recorded a team-high 12 kills, while Kenzie Banks and Sidney Crane added 10 kills apiece.
Crane and Paysen Graden each recorded a block.
At the service line, Graden led Ogden with three aces.
Grace Christensen had two aces and was a perfect 17-for-17 serving.
Anderson added two aces while going 18-for-18, and Coleman had two aces and was 17-for-17 from the service line.
Christensen also contributed 11 digs, while Coleman finished with 10 digs as the Bulldogs held off Earlham for the five-set victory.
Match 2: Ogden 3, Interstate 35 2
Ogden found itself in another battle in its second match of the night against Interstate 35.
Coleman led the Bulldog attack with 13 kills, while Anderson handed out 24 assists. Coleman and Crane each finished with one block.
Melana Sesker turned in a big defensive performance with a team-high 28 digs.
She also caused problems from the service line, leading Ogden with five aces.
Anderson and Graden each recorded three aces against Interstate 35.
Anderson was a perfect 13-for-13 serving, while Macy Bristle finished 11-for-11.
As a team, the Bulldogs served 90 percent in the match.
The two victories improved Ogden to 17-8 overall and 4-3 in the West Central Activities Conference.
Earlham dropped to 13-8 overall and 2-5 in conference play, while Interstate 35 fell to 5-18 overall and 1-6 in the conference.
Ogden returns home tonight for a non-conference match against Southeast Valley, which enters with a 4-17 record.
