Ballard sweeps Boone volleyball

The Boone volleyball team opened its home schedule Tuesday, September 8, but No. 9 Ballard proved too much to handle as the Bombers swept the Toreadors 3-0 in a Raccoon River Conference matchup at Boone High School.

The Boone volleyball team opened its home schedule Tuesday, September 8, but No. 9 Ballard proved too much to handle as the Bombers swept the Toreadors 3-0 in a Raccoon River Conference matchup at Boone High School. 

Kaylee Kuehl led the Toreadors with five kills, while Ava Johnson added three kills.  

Jenna Murray and Payton Stolte each contributed a kill for Boone. 

Junior setter Halle Johnson had 10 assists and recorded four ace serves.  

Halle Johnson also added three digs and one block. 

At the net, Stolte and Kuehl each finished with two total blocks.  

Murray and Halle Johnson added one block apiece. 

Defensively, senior Karsyn Smith led the Toreadors with 11 digs.  

Halle Johnson finished with three digs, Ava Landas had two, and Kuehl added one. 

Boone was efficient from the service line, finishing at 91 percent as a team.  

Taylor Egnell was a perfect 8-for-8 on her serves, while Kuehl went 3-for-3. 

Ballard improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while Boone fell to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the Raccoon River Conference. 

The Toreadors will travel to Woodward-Granger for a tournament on Saturday, September12. 

The tournament field includes Boone, West Central Valley, Ogden, Colfax-Mingo, Perry and host Woodward-Granger.
