
The Boone baseball team fell to Ballard, 9-1, in a Raccoon River Conference baseball game Thursday, June 25, at Nite Hawk Baseball Diamond in Slater.
The Toreadors managed just a handful of hits against Ballard pitching with Tyce Carlson collecting two hits and scoring Boone’s lone run of the game.
Braxton Gifford also contributed offensively with two hits, while Noah Gorman added a base hit.
Boone starter Landon Youngblood took the loss, striking out four batters.
Luca Fontanini provided relief and recorded one strikeout.
With the defeat, Boone dropped to 11-9 overall and 6-7 in Raccoon River Conference play, as they continue to battle for positioning in a competitive league.
Ballard improved to 16-8 overall and 8-4 in conference play with the win.
The Toreadors will travel to Ankeny for the Prange Classic on Saturday, June 26.
Boone is scheduled to open the tournament against West Marshall (15-10) before taking on Maurice-Orange City/Floyd Valley (16-5) later in the day.
